Scandic Hotels Group expands in Stockholm with a new hotel in the Globe area

Press release | Hotel portfolio | 3 Nov, 2026 | 09:00 CET | Regulatory

· The hotel will offer meeting facilities, a wellness area and gym, a restaurant and bar, and dedicated spaces for events and activities.
· Avicii Arena, 3Arena, Hovet and Annexet are all within walking distance.
· The establishment strengthens Scandic’s presence in Stockholm and supports the company’s strategy for selective growth in attractive locations.

Scandic Hotels Group is entering the Globe area with a new Scandic hotel in a front-row location at the heart of Stockholm’s leading district for sports, music and entertainment. The new hotel will be created through the conversion of an existing office property and is scheduled to open in 2028. Scandic has signed a long-term, revenue-based lease agreement with Corem Property Group.

“Our growth strategy is focused on strengthening our presence in attractive locations with long-term demand potential. Stockholm is an important market for Scandic, and this hotel gives us a strong position in a growing district where events, business and leisure come together. It is a clear example of how we are selectively expanding our portfolio to capture demand and support our continued growth” says Jens Mathiesen, President & CEO at Scandic Hotels Group.

A hotel designed for events, families and city travellers
The hotel is designed for a broad mix of guests visiting Stockholm for concerts, sporting events and other leisure experiences. It will offer 320 rooms, with a strong focus on spacious family rooms. Around 40 larger rooms and suites will be located on the top floor, several with private terraces and panoramic views. The hotel will also feature meeting facilities, a wellness area and gym, a restaurant and bar, parking, and dedicated spaces for events and activities.

At the centre of Stockholm’s urban transformation
Located near the Gullmarsplan transport hub, the hotel will form part of Söderstaden, one of Stockholm’s largest urban development areas. Nearby, Slakthusområdet is emerging as a destination for food, culture, nightlife and creative businesses and was recently ranked among the world’s trendiest neighbourhoods. With approximately 3,000 new homes and 14,000 workplaces planned for the wider area, the district is expected to attract business and leisure travellers as well as local visitors throughout the year.

“The project is a strong example of how Scandic can work with property owners to unlock the potential of existing properties in attractive locations. Together with Corem, we are developing a hotel that meets the area’s established event demand while appealing to a broad mix of guests throughout the year,” says Jesper Engman, Chief Development Officer at Scandic Hotels Group.

Sustainability integrated into the project
The building is planned to achieve BREEAM Very Good certification, while hotel operations will be certified according to the Nordic Swan Ecolabel. Scandic’s Room Collection concept will combine design, comfort and functionality with circular principles and more sustainable material choices.
