Scandic has signed an agreement regarding the operation of a new hotel in attractive Nørreport in central Copenhagen. The hotel, which will have some 100 rooms, is expected to open in 2020.
Nørreport is one of the most attractive areas in central Copenhagen and the new hotel will be in an advantageous location, just outside Nørreport Station. The hotel will have a design inspired by boutique hotels and house a restaurant and a sky bar with breathtaking views of Copenhagen. ATP Ejendomme owns the property, which is currently used as offices.
“Nørreport has long been a sought-after area with relatively few hotels. The new hotel will be an excellent complement to our Copenhagen portfolio. The innovative design will truly stand out, and we look forward to the opening,” says Søren Faerber, Head of Scandic Denmark.
Scandic currently has ten hotels in operation in Copenhagen and will strengthen its position further in coming years. In addition to Nørreport, Scandic intends to open three attractive hotels in the Copenhagen area, with more than 1,300 rooms in total, between 2019 and 2021. The hotel market in Copenhagen is growing and has historically high occupancy. The city is one of Northern Europe’s largest cities for trade shows and conferences and also benefits from a growing leisure segment.
