Scandic has been named the most attractive employer in the Nordic hotel industry according to a survey conducted by Universum. Universum Global’s annual ranking of the most attractive employers is based on responses from 36,000 students in Norway, Finland, Denmark and Sweden.
When Nordic business students were asked to list their ideal employers, Scandic was the only hotel operator in the Nordic countries that was named. The results are based on Universum’s student survey 2017 in which more than 36,000 business students from universities in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland participated.
– This is just great and I’m both happy and proud that Scandic has been recognized internationally. Inspiring leadership is something we really prioritize and our culture is one of our most important strategic issues. We are convinced that when we create a workplace where team members thrive, develop and feel committed, we can create great hotel experiences for our guests, says Lena Bjurner, VP HR & Sustainability, Scandic Hotels Group.
– The next generation of talents doesn’t just expect a job: they’re looking for a context where they can reach their full potential. To be an attractive employer in 2017, a competitive salary and employment security aren’t enough. You need to offer a higher purpose and social commitment, be innovative and truly see each person as an individual. All in all, as an employer in the Nordic countries, you have to climb mountains every day to be considered attractive. The organizations that students chose in the 2017 Nordic ranking have worked very hard with these issues, and for this they deserve to be highly praised, says Claes Peyron, CEO & Head of Employer Branding Academy at Universum.
Scandic constantly works to create the best possible career paths in the hotel industry for the students of the future and team member satisfaction is a priority area. Scandic offers its 15,000 team members access to Scandic Business School, an internal program to help team members develop professionally, as well as Talent@Scandic, a one-year program that identifies and develops high-performing team members into future general managers within the Group.
