Martin Thell, CIO at Scandic Hotels Group, has advanced to the finals in Sweden’s most prominent IT awards, the CIO Awards 2016. Martin has been recognized for the way that he has significantly improved the quality of IT deliveries within the group and implemented a completely new technical platform.
For the twelfth consecutive year, the CIO Awards are being organized by IDG’s CIO Sweden in cooperation with Accenture. The gala is known as the Oscars for Swedish IT companies and it aims to showcase the key role CIOs play in Swedish companies and organizations. The prize is awarded to the individual who has shown great understanding of the business and who has been innovative in adding value to a company or organization.
Martin Thell was nominated as a result of having increased the quality of IT deliveries substantially thanks to a new governance structure. Additionally, he implemented a completely new technical platform. The new cloud-based digital platform was launched in April 2016 and Scandic is now in a good position to develop more business-driven digital solutions.
– Naturally, I’m extremely happy and proud that the work my colleagues and I have been doing has been recognized like this. And we’re really hoping to bring home the grand prize, says Martin Thell, CIO at Scandic Hotels.
The Year’s CIO 2016 will be announced at the CIO Awards gala at Berns in Stockholm on December 19.
