Scandic is continuing its expansion in Norway. After the trendy Scandic Vulkan and the award-winning Scandic Oslo Airport, Scandic Fornebu has now opened. The hotel is Scandics largest in Norway and a meeting destination with an excellent, strategic location only 10 minutes from central Oslo. The hotel has one of Oslos biggest conference facilities and 334 colourful guest rooms with Nordic Eco labelled furnishings that are 98% recyclable. Scandic Fornebu´s design and architecture is clearly inspired by the sea and the hotel is a welcome addition to the chain’s existing portfolio of seven hotels in the Oslo area.Scandic Fornebu is Scandics eighth hotel in the Oslo area. Since earlier there are five hotels in the city center of Oslo, the award winning Scandic Oslo airport at Gardermoen Airport and Scandic Asker south of Oslo. The fact the now an eighth Scandic hotel opened in Oslo is a clear mark of Scandic’s drive to strengthen its position on the Norwegian market. The conference facilities are one of Oslos biggest and welcomes up to 1 850 meeting participants.

“Fornebu is one of Norway’s most expansive areas, attracting both new businesses and new residents. Our new hotel is designed to become a natural meeting destination for tourists and conference guests, as well as local businesspeople and neighbours, says Anders Ehrling, CEO of Scandic.”

The best of both worlds

The new Scandic Fornebu offers modern and sophisticated architecture and interiors, clearly inspired by the sea that stretches out beyond the windows. The roofline brings to mind driftwood and the lighting evokes a sense of the sun never going down. Large expanses of glass let light flood in and make it easy to enjoy the view. The inspiration from the sea is also clear in the restaurant, whose speciality dish of fish soup is also available to take away. The wish is also to create a local meeting place for the hotel’s neighbours – everyone is welcome.

“I think we’ve succeeded in combining the best of both worlds with Scandic Fornebu. It has an impressive conference facility with huge capacity and in addition the 334 guest rooms with the Nordic Eco labelled furnishings. Nature is a strong presence, with beaches, walking trails and watersports outside the hotel, and yet you’re only 10 minutes from central Oslo. It’s a fantastic combination for conference organisers and for leisure and business travellers”, says Svein Arild Mevold, Vice President Scandic Norway.
