New head of Scandic in Norway

Scandic has recruited Svein Arild Steen-Mevold as the new head of operations in Norway. Svein Arild has a extensive background in the hotel industry and joins from Choice, where he is President of the Clarion Collection. He will take up his post as Vice President Scandic Norway in early 2011.“I have worked for Scandic before and have always remained very positive to the company,” says Svein Arild. “I feel incredibly inspired by this opportunity to lead the exciting developments in Norway, as the hotel chain adds several new hotels to its portfolio – including two new hotels in central Bergen recently – while at the same time taking the brand forward. Scandic’s values are very close to my own, and I am both proud and pleased to be returning to lead the Norwegian team towards new successes.”

Svein Arild Steen-Mevold has lengthy experience from the hotel industry. He worked as General Manager of various hotels including Scandic Stavanger, was involved in opening Scandic Sjølyst and was Sales & Marketing Director for Scandic in Norway. Svein Arild has worked at Choice Hotels since 2003, where he is currently President at Clarion Collection, part of the Choice Group. He is 43 years old and lives in Oslo with his wife and three children.

The Scandic hotel chain is expanding rapidly in Norway and will shortly be opening several exciting new hotels. Two new hotels in Bergen have also recently joined Scandic, giving the chain three strong offerings in central Bergen.
